The Origins of the station

The planning of Woodside Hospital Radio started in 1981 when St Andrews Radio Manager, Bob Rush and Peter Goody Executive Director Metropolitan Hospitals Radio were asked to oversee the start of a radio station, to supply the equipment and to recruit and train volunteers. This took place between 1981 and early 1983, the mainequipment donation coming from West Ham Round Table.  Assisting in the early days were, Mike Woodward, Gary Spence, Terry Elliot, Danny Slevin, Som Guru and John Rolls.  Gary Spence is still involved in the station and also can be heard on Solar Radio Sky channel 879.  Woodside Hospital Radio as it was christened started officially broadcasting in 1983

The station is still very active and has never stopped broadcasting from the first moment in 1983 and will continue to go on to infinity.

The station is presently run by Chairman Chris Middleditch and Press & Publicity Officer Gurpreet Mudhar and a very dedicated team of presenters and production staff who broadcast to the patients.  Programmes include requests, competitions and various genres of music sretching from the 1930's to the present day.

In addition to presenting shows we also actively fundraise to raise awareness of the station and raise money to help keep the station running.
